It's triplet girls!

Some of you may not know that I am pregnant, with triplets. (I know...take a deep breath....and another..maybe 5) I thought I would start a blog to keep everyone updated about my gestational surrogate pregnancy.

So no, they aren't my babies. Don't worry there's no more babies for me. They aren't even biologically related to me. The docs made them in a dish and put them in my oven at a cool 98 degrees and hopefully they will bake until December sometime. We started with two embryos and one split into identical girls. So I guess my body doesn't have single babies or boys! haha!

I'm just now feeling better from being pukey so now I can sit here and write a blog. Here's some Q&A you may be wondering yourself:

Do you know the parents?
Yes, I know the parents through a surrogacy agency, so it's a pretty formal process. And no they aren't famous like SJP :) they live here in Colorado, they have no other kids and this is the route they chose to have a family.

Won't you be attached to the babies?
No, not in a way as with my own kids. I went into this knowing I'm not having anymore kids and I really don't want anymore babies. So this time is a little different knowing this is for another family. I'm perfectly ok with it and I'm sure I can see them anytime.

Why did you decide to do this?
Well when you get laid off and real estate sucks, this is what people do right? :) I've thought about doing this for a very long time since I am a pro preggo chick, and after having your own miracles, why not help someone else have that love and joy.

What do the girls think of this?
They knew the whole time that I was helping someone else have babies. We told them the mommy's belly was broken and mine wasn't so we're using mine to let the babies grow until they "pop out" (that's what they think will happen). They know the parents and know that no babies will come home with us.

What did your family think?
My dad thought I was selling his grand kids. But I don't think he knew how the whole thing worked. So I'm not selling any kids, as I didn't use my eggs. The rest of the family probably thinks I'm on the crazy train, but they are being very supportive of me.

I'm now 17 weeks pregnant with the triplets. We found out there were three at six weeks. What a shocker. I was totally ready to be carrying twins and I had done it before, but we'll have to throw one more in there! That's the life of Shauna isn't it? I think so. I decided to tell people now because I wasn't sure if I'd share the news with everyone I know. I've come across some pretty opinionated people who assumed and didn't know the facts. Like I was selling my babies. So now you all know and won't be shocked when I look 900 months pregnant in about a month.

We had the BIG ultrasound this week and found out they're having three girls! Lord help them! :) They are all totally healthy and growing. And my health couldn't be better either. My belly measures as if I were 29 weeks pregnant already. So I really will be like 900 months pregnant by December. And this may be too much info but.. my cervix is measuring record breaking numbers! That just means the babies aren't coming out anytime soon. Our goal is to get to 34 weeks. I should be able to get there with my track record of having multiples. Cross your fingers! I actually feel better than when I was pregnant with the girls too. I'm no where near as sick this time.
